Cyclamen: Identification, plant Growth and reproduction

Learn about the plant

Ctenanthe is a genus of approximately 15 types of rosette-developing, time tested, rhizomatous perennials from wet forest flooring surfaces and thickets in Costa Rica and Brazil. The Ctenanthes are strictly relevant to the Calateas – they are both eyes-capturing and hard to cultivate. They have a long list of hates – direct sunlight, temperature ranges below 60 F, cold or painful water, and feeding after repotting.

Plant growth conditions

Typical warmth. Good indirect gentle will be the proper area – an eastern- or north-facing windowsill is ideal. Develop in soilless or dirt-dependent planting blend.

Compost must be held moist consistently rather than allowed to dry. Misting is important.

Plant reproduction

Divide the herb at the beginning of early spring. Sow seed at (66-75 F,19-24 C) once ripe or in springtime.
