Ophiopogon

Ophiopogon: Identification, plant Growth and reproduction

Learn about the plant

Ophiopogon is a Genus of approximately 50 species of time tested, rhizomatous or tufted perennials, typically with enlarged, fleshy beginnings, sometimes stoloniferous, from shady rub or woodland in E. Asian countries, especially China. Ophiopogon is comparable in appearance to Liriope. The surges of flowers are borne inside the tufts of only leaves, and so could be partially hidden. The long slim leaves are about 15 inches extended. It is going to grow in direct sunlight or tone and has an added benefit from making modest white-colored or mauve blossoms in summer.

Plant growth conditions

Typical heat – keep fresh but frost-free in the wintertime—as much light-weight as is possible. Expand in soil-based planting mixture.

Continue to keep garden compost damp all the time – lessen irrigating in winter. Mist leaves frequently.

Plant reproduction

Split plant life at repotting time. Sow seed in storage containers in the cold structure when ripe
