Genus of approximately 20 species of delicate-stemmed time tested shrubs and shrubby perennials from tropical rainforest in Core and South America. They already have complete opposite pairs of straightforward, often entire leaves and have terminal or axillary spikes or panicles of tubular, yellowish, orange, reddish, or crimson plants. This bush can be produced being a home plant whenever you can supply excellent airflow moisture. Remain the pot on the pebble plate and mist the foliage frequently. The discolored blooms are borne in upright clusters above the leaves. The large leaves, approximately 12 in. extended, provide the primary display using their yellow or ivory veins. Prune each spring season. The bush develops about 3 feet or higher, along with the blossoms appear in the very early summertime.

Plant growth conditions

Average warmth in summer – a minimum of 60 F in winter. Brightly lit spot. Put compost moist at any time but never waterlogged. Decrease watering in winter. Use soft, warm water. Misting is necessary.

Take stem cuttings in spring. Use a rooting hormone and provide bottom heat.
